President's Report

Dear Fellow Members, Associates and Friends,

In 2019, we hosted a wide variety of interesting seminars on topics that included elder fraud, federal construction
auditing, wage and expense fraud, COSO-2 and the joint publication by ACFE/COSO. We had a very successful joint
conference with the Fiduciary and Investment Risk Management Association (FIRMA) and the Delaware Chapter of
the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) in March and further enhanced our
chapter’s presence on various social media platforms, including a redesigned website. We celebrated Fraud
Awareness Week with an evening of socializing, networking and training at 1675 Spirits, a distillery in Bensalem,
PA. We also held our 27th annual all-day fraud conference, with Evan Davis, vice president and general counsel at
Rivers Casino, as our Keynote Speaker. In 2020, we will continue the tradition of excellent training and networking
opportunities starting with our February speakers, Howard Silverstone and Marion Wickersham of Forensic
Resolutions Inc. speaking on the topic of cannabis challenges for fraud examiners. The scheduled topics for the
upcoming year include something for everyone. Hope to see you there!

Also, in 2019, we gave back to our community with a $1,500 donation to Operation Warm Inc., a non-profit
organization that creates brand new winter coats and gives them away to children in need, helping to improve selfconfidence,
peer acceptance, school attendance, and overall wellness. None of this would have been possible without
you, our membership.

We are planning several special events during 2020, including additional networking and volunteer opportunities. If
you have not yet had the chance to visit our newly revamped chapter website, now is the perfect time. The
website address is: We love the sleek new look and new member area. Here you can
renew your membership, register for events, visit the member directory, job ads and more. Stay connected
to the chapter and be the first to learn about the events you don’t want to miss on our chapter website and social media
pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn).

Our 2020 membership fees remain unchanged from 2019. The Chapter membership dues are $35 for members who
are Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs), and $50 for associate members who are not CFEs. We also have a special
student rate of $20. Our breakfast meeting attendee cost will also remain unchanged at $40 for a member and $70 for
a non-member. So, please renew your membership for 2020, promote membership in our Chapter among your
colleagues, associates and friends, and get involved! We are always looking for interested, ambitious, and dedicated
members to join the Chapter’s various committees such as membership, scholarship, social, etc. as well as to offer
their services as speakers at our training events.

A special thank you goes out to my fellow board members, whose hard work, dedication, and vision has contributed
greatly to the success of the Philadelphia Area Chapter.: Vice President – Joanna Kiszlo, Secretary – Meghan
McDermott, Treasurer – Jackie Coyle, Training Director – Robert Cohen, Joe Galdo, Jennifer Silvestrov, Bob Irwin,
and Irina Balashova. We are also pleased to welcome a new Board member this year, Jenniffer Fox, who has been an
active chapter member for several years and we’re happy to have her as part of the team.

I look forward to working with everyone to continue the growth and success of the Philadelphia Area Chapter of the
ACFE and our members.

Frank A. Pina, CPA/CFF, CFE, CGMA
